Meet The Teacher
Some serious matters
1. When and how did you start practicing yoga
I started practicing yoga during my professional dance training in London. Once, during a student party, I was offered to take cocaine. I refused. I suddenly became aware, that many dancers accepted to take drugs. It was a real shock to me. Dancers train their body, on a daily basis, several hours a day. How could one destroy it in the evening just for fun? I was looking for a practice integrating physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. I found it with yoga. Yoga goes way beyond physical shape. Through yoga I have learned to love my-self and on a deeper level, to take care of my "imperfection", my trauma and my shadow side.
2. Preferred yoga style?
I love practicing vinyasa yoga. But since life is constantly changing, my yoga practice is also changing...I practice yoga differently in accordance to the different needs of my body/mind. Yin Yoga is for me a very good way to complement my vinyasa practice. Vinyasa Yoga is active and focuses on on stretching and strengthening the muscular system of the body, while Yin yoga is quieting and works much more on the joints and the fascia system. Restorative yoga is also a wonderful way to renew my energy when I am exhausted.
3. Tip for practitioners
Listen to who you are right now, and respond to it now. Each time you go on your mat seek for what is needed now. Each time your practice will be different.
