About the event

Join us for yoga sessions designed for the third age.

We believe in the power of yoga to make our lives better as it has only benefits to it, from nurturing our Happiness, achieving High Concentration, better sleep and so on.

If you can breath, you can practice yoga. So, anyone who wants to practice yoga, can practice yoga.

But as T.K.V. Desikachar articulated well - no one can practice every kind of yoga. It has to be the right yoga for the person.

Yoga practice for the third age is adapted to the needs and abilities of the practitioners at this age.

What to expect?

The practice will be a gentle dynamic sequence of movement and breathing throughout the lesson. You will practice different breathing and breathing techniques, different variations in each pose, followed by relaxation positions.

Who is it for?

Women and men aged 60-75, without severe physical disabilities, are invited to join the practice.

4 sessions as follows:

1. Thursday 4/4/24 09:00 - Benefits of breathing exercises for third age.

2. Thursday 18/4/24 09:00 - strengthening the pelvic and core muscles

3. Thursday 2/5/24 09:00 - Joint health is essential key to quality of life at the third age

4. Thursday 16/5/24 09:00 - Balance and Stability

4/4/24 –

Benefits of breathing exercises for third age

· Improved Respiratory Function - Breathing exercises help strengthen respiratory muscles and improve lung capacity.

· Stress Reduction - Deep and controlled breathing can activate the body's relaxation response.

· Increased Energy Levels - Efficient breathing can boost energy levels by ensuring that the body receives an adequate supply of oxygen.

· Social and Emotional Benefits - Engaging in group breathing exercises or classes can provide social interactions.

18/4/24 –

strengthening the pelvic and core muscles (Include the muscles of the abdomen, lower back, and pelvis)

· Spinal Alignment - The core muscles play a key role in maintaining proper spinal alignment.

· Pelvic Floor Function - The pelvic floor muscles, support the organs in the pelvis and help control bladder and bowel function.

· Reduced Strain on Other Muscles - When the core muscles are weak, other muscles in the body may have to work harder.

· Yoga technique for core muscles Mula-babdha and Uddiyana-bandha

Joint health is essential key to quality of life at the third age

· Mobility and Independence - Healthy joints are essential for maintaining mobility and independence.

· Pain Management -Joint problems can often lead to pain and discomfort.

· Mental Health - Chronic pain and limited mobility can also have an impact on mental health.

· Social Engagement - Being able to move comfortably and without pain, encourages social engagement.

Balance and Stability for safer life

· Strong core is essential for overall balance and stability

· Flexibility Training Maintaining flexibility in joints and muscles is important for mobility and balance.

· Strength Training Engaging in strength training exercises focus on exercises that target major muscle groups

About Yachiam Levy:

My name is Yachiam Levy, 59 years old. I have been practicing yoga for almost 20 years. In the last ten years, yoga has become the main path in my life.

Over the years I have studied with very experienced teachers such as: Petri Raisanen, John Scott, Melanie Cooper, Ofer Ben Gad, and Eyal Chakhanovsky.

In 2017 I was certified as a yoga teacher in a 500 hour course under the guidance of Eyal Chakhanovsky. Since then I have been leading several yoga groups in a weekly practice. 

My specialty is yoga instruction for practitioners aged 55-75. I combine  several yoga methods that give the practitioners the best result.
